An Indian saint has set a record by not taking a bath for 32 years. Sadhu Ganga Puri Maharaj has become the main attraction of this year's Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Known as Chhotubaba to his devotees, he has been encouraging devotees to take a holy bath even though he has not taken a bath himself. The Maha Kumbh Mela is about to begin at the confluence of three rivers in India.
This fair holds special significance for followers of Sanatan Dharma. Pilgrims have already arrived to attend the event. 57-year-old Ganga Puri Maharaj has arrived in Prayagraj from Kamakhya Peeth in Assam. This 3-foot-8-inch tall saint has caught the eye even before the start of the Maha Kumbh Mela. Devotees call him Chhotubaba. Chhotubaba's determination not to take a bath and his spiritual thoughts are impressing people.
Devotees believe that his self-sacrifice adds spiritual strength to their lives. Chhotubaba says, you have come to see us, we have also come to see you. You have come here to see the Majma, we have also come here to see the Majma, this is a meeting place for people, this is a meeting place for people. Here, the soul needs to be one with the soul. But Chhotubaba does not impose any obligation on his devotees for his way of life. He says, let everyone realize their own spirituality. I have chosen my path, you choose yours.
His presence at the fair is not only a symbol of spirituality, but also a reflection of the combination of tradition and modern life. He has not bathed for more than three decades. Why does he not bathe? He himself says that due to some determination, he has not touched water on his body for all these years
